Yes - taken in a Zoo. Taronga Park Zoo in Sydney is classed as one of the best Zoos in the world (and is still getting better)!

The focus is on providing the animals with an environment as close to their natural one. If actually feels like the visitor is the one behind the bars!

I believe that this gorilla communicated with me in a special way as when I arrive at his location, he sat with his back towards me whilst he continued to eat some branches. Everytime I moved, he moved to remain in the same dominant position. Finally, I elected to moved a significant distance away which resulted in him immediately following me. He then calmy stopped, waited until I took several photographs and then moved on.

I wonder who was watching who?

Believe it or not, in the 20 years since I was born I have not visited that zoo! I really should. I have the same problem photographing animals too! They tend to like having their back toward me - this includes my pet fox terrier. I like the expression of this gorilla's face, he almost looks depressed. Or maybe that's how they look naturally! Nice composition.
