| The Quokka is a small marsupial, so small that Vlemming the dutch explorer who first saw them named the island on which they lived Rottnest ( Dutch for ratsnest! ) About a foot high when purched on their hind legs, they appear cute, but if provoked will give a nasty bite. Rottnest is a small island about 20km off Fremantle and a popular tourist destination, there are no cars on the island and all transport is by bus, bicycle or foot. |

Yeah!!!!!!!! More memories! These quokkas are not exactly rats, are they now! So is Rottnest still the offshore tourist trap? Nice portrait of its main attraction, well done Peter! Tfs, Jay
