Great shot of the Mallard Drake, nice pose with the head tucked in, I like the central composition as it does show the ripples off well, I think we sometimes get put off puting the subject so central when we should go with it, good detail and great colours too and I think the late afternoon light is superb.

You have caught here some fantastic light...so warm and soft.The clarity of the duck is excellent as is that of the water and its soft ripples.Maybe a touch over saturated but this may be a case of taste.You have some nice work....take care.

One needn't be a slave to the "rules". It is a good idea to be aware of them but not to the extent that they prevent you from seeing your subject. This is lovely and the sharpness and color and light are awesome.
