[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is an mid-summer evening shot (9pm) of the cock Greater Spotted Woodpecker feeding one of it's brood. The adult has the red patch on the back of it's head while the chick has a red cap on it's head. This cap fades after about three months. The female Woodpecker has no red markings around the head/neck area.
The only camera information I have (my Roxio program deleted a lot of my EXIF files during transfer to DVD backups) is the model, Canon EOS 10D with 1.4x extender. Remote shutter cord.
For your interest I use a Manfrotto 501 video head on my tripod as I find this type of head better for wildlife shots. It allows me to move the head without losing rigidity and having to release/tighten knobs etc. I took a pal to the hide last week and after twenty minutes of trying to position his focus (using a new ball head) on a particular branch favoured by a Bullfinch he gave up and used his outfit hand-held!!
Please look at my earlier postings as there may be pictures you have missed. They are there for your to hopefully enjoy and comment on.
