| Intro: | 2008 Year of the Frog Frogs really do matter and are a big part of the ecological system more than we know Please help to Conserve and Protect the worlds froggy population. Frogs by the thousands all around the planet are dying off due to a somewhat newly discovered disease called chytridiomycosis it is very lethal and destructive to amphibians, some species have even gone extinct such as Monteverde's famous Golden Toad, Austrailia's Gastric Brooding Frog, where the parent lets the tadpoles develop in the stomach and releases them out the mouth when mature. The beautiful Iconic Panama Golden Frog is just about extirpated from the wild, leaving only a small number in captive breeding programs. At this time there are a few conservation projects in place to collect some of the species and propagate them in captivity so that one day they may be released back into the wild once it is safe again. Please visit amphibian ark to learn more and help in their efforts in anyway you can.
