Just a quick snapshot of the corner of the field that has been abandonded this year by the farmer. As you can see there are quite a few poppies. There are more around to the left across another side of the house and some more to the right as well.

Ths is the first evening that any poppies have been left over, I think because it has rained off and on all day and it has helped them last longer - the field was very dry.

Tomorrows display shoudl be fantastic if the weather is good enough to be out in...

thanks for looking
Emma

OK - for those who can't see the 2 spiders - look to the red circles. 1 is living inside the flower spur itself, the other has folded over the lip and you can just make out the leg.

I'll post another WS in a min with a clearer picture of all 3 other them for you...

Well describing classical capture. Tried a little workshop to increase the orchid's set off against the background.

Photoshop Elements:

1) Saturation all colours increased + 12
2) Saturation green decreased - 30
3) Saturation yellow decreased -12
4) Flower selectively sharpened (lasso tool, sharpening filter)
5) Noise reduction, scratch and dust removal r=1 selectively on BG (magic wand selection tool, tolerance 30%)
6) Softening filter selectively on BG (magic wand selection tool, tolerance 30%)

Hope you enjoy.

Hello Emma,

I removed the catkin and put more blur on the background... Do you like it?

Hi Emma,
I selected your subject and applied gaussian blur @ 1 pixel. Then I reduced highlights by 15%.
Finally, a touch more USM @ amount 75, radius .3 pixel and 0 threshold. The border is blurred for the most part, I would've had to crop it it out or replace it, but left it in.

I use Photoshop to add sharpness on the bird and remove some noise by blurring the background. Let me know what you think of it!

This is what we were looking at and only by using the full 300mm zoom did I see anything different.
