| Intro: | I am grateful to my wife Ulla (Uleko) for introducing me to TrekNature, which I think is great! I am also grateful to all who look at and make comments on my contributions. I have been interested in nature as long as I can remember, which in my case is a long time. In the past I have been mostly interested in butterflies, but now I am focusing more on birds which I express by taking pictures with a Canon EOS 400 D together with a 300 mm f 4 IS Canon telephoto lens and a 1.4 teleconverter. Before this I was using a Canon 2S IS. I have also digiscoped using a Nikon Coolpix 4500 through a Zeiss 85 scope. UPDATE 9 August 2007: As all my shots are taken in the wild or of wild subjects in my garden I only make comments on shots taken under similar conditions. If there is no note I will not make a critique, no matter how good the shot is, nor will I write a critique on a shot made by those who seldom write critiques or who only do so for a small group of TN members. TN is give and take, which makes it interesting, fun and friend-making. UPDATE Jan 2008 Many members mention God in connection with nature. To me, as well as the spiritual aspects, God the creator is Nature itself. Creation is a constant changing process throughout the Universe. Our planet will one day be destroyed by our sun but I am convinced that life will always be present somewhere in the universe. Through our greed and overpopulation we are now destroying much of the diversity of life on this planet. Unfortunately the religions of today do little if anything to prevent this partly because of a belief in some sort of personal permanent life after death. Many species unknown to man will disappear before they are discovered. This makes me appreciate nature even more and one way of expressing this is through photography. UPDATE March 2008, In the spirit of a wave of dedications that occur these days I hereby dedicate all my postings to all my TN friends, irrespective of whether they are on my favourites list or not. My notes and critiques are based on what I already know but I have a fairly comprehensive natural history library to back up my statements. I am however prepared to supply the scources of my information when requested and am always open to new findings based on more recent research. | |
