| Intro: | Hello, my name is Florin Feneru, I am a biologist having worked mostly in natural history museums. My preferred subjects are parrots and other birds, but as an amateur photographer I enjoy “collecting” all type of creatures in my pictures. I used a Canon PowerShot S1 IS between May 2004 and April 2008. Since July 2008 I begun to use a Canon PowerShot S2 IS and a Fujifilm FinePix S5700. I try to take photos as technically correct as I can but beyond that, I don’t seek any artistic achievements. My photos merely document my wildlife encounters and are therefore only of personal interest. On the other hand, I try to write my notes as informative as I can, so that they tell a story about the subject or about how I took the picture. I will not post notes containing general descriptions of the species copied from encyclopedias, as they are easy to find elsewhere when needed. In two years as a member of TrekNature I managed to upload only 6 photos, to write only 16 “critiques” to other members’ photos, receiving 22 in turn. The critiques and rating system has put me off since the beginning, because I hate competition and I don’t know enough about photography to critique others. The “critiques” I have written are really comments on the subject and not on the picture’s quality. I understand that most TrekNature members benefit from critiques and even have fun getting and giving points, but when I receive critiques and points for a photo I try to do the same for their authors and I don’t know what to say and I feel bad. I chose not to display the points any more and begun writing comments instead of critiques, only to realize that without being able to see it, people continued to give me points while I was giving them none, and I felt even worse. So I hope you won’t hate me but I will not write any critiques and will stay away from the rating system.
