As said, I played a bit with this workshop just for the fun to see a little more impact or dramatic effect from the clouds and the raging ocean. I got the impression (right or wrong) that it might have been taken late in the afternoon so I also tried to give it a bit of a golden orange colour. Only you saw the scene and would know if my intuition took me closer or further away from reality.
I did not even take note exactly what I did, but mostly I just increase contrast, decreased brightness, increased saturation, added a bit of blue and yellow hue, and a pinch of USM. Maybe I could have done some more to darken the clouds, but that is more like spilled milk now that the workshop is done and posted (chuckle).
Hope you like the result anyway and thanks for allowing workshops.

i did the workshop
first i went to see the size of your image
691 pixels width
800 pixels height
i decide to keep the same imge size
then with photoshop
- i added a free place at the right of the image
but i added that free place not to the image
i added to the CANVAS
go see :
image
canvas size
then i copied a part of the wood and placed
at the free space (place) of the canvas,
a little bit i retouched the wood (juste a little bit)
then i start to retouch (or to clone) the green of the background
but i wasn't happy of my cloning, so i gived a little bit
of blur to the background to hide the imperfection of my cloning
and then keeping the same size of the image
691 pixels width
800 pixels height
i re-cropped the image
leaving less part at the left (behind the bird)
and leaving more part at the right (infront of the bird)
i hope and wish Karin that i was useful in my workshop

(12501) [2007-04-22 20:40:08] [1] | | I felt that the large amount of sky didn't serve much purpose here as there are really no clouds etc. I tried a different crop to give the land 2/3 of the frame and the sky 1/3. I think it makes the mountains seem grander. I wanted the lake with its lovely blue reflection to be more prominent and interesting. Now it is larger in proportion to the whole. |

I made the following adjustments:
Curves layer for the bottom half and a curves layer on the top half. On the bottom to make a lighter and on the top to make it darker.
Several adjustments in color, both in RGB and saturation.
I feel that the rock came out better this way and becomes more highlighted by the setting sun. The idea was to warm up the colors on the rock and even out the exposure surrounding it.
