| Intro: | Being a farm girl growing up with a mum who had the most beautiful respect for animals and nature and a dad who worked on the land and loved the out-doors, as children nature was part of our growing up. Even though we head to the cities for work, the love for the out-doors and nature has always remained with me. Photography became my hobby after moving here to the West Coast. With the unique natural environment, landscapes, the backdrop of the Southern Alps, history, people, places, geology, flora and fauna, I wanted to capture the beauty on film and not just in my memories. I bought my first SLR about 8 years ago and worked mostly with slide film. What I love the most about photography is what it has learnt me. The little things in nature that make up the big picture of what we all see and enjoy, without these little things in nature we would not have the big picture or world as we know it now. Look for more than the obvious and its amazing what we see. I enjoy learning about my images if I am not sure of the subject. My mum says I have come full circle, because as a little girl I always had my head down and bottom up with a magnifing glass and bug catcher and now guess where you will find me on my days off, yep, head down and bottom up taking photos of fungi, bugs etc, now with a lens and not a magnifing glass. The magnifing glass now gets used for help reading the small writing. I enjoy all areas of photography but my passion is nature, the natural landscape, flora & fauna. I moved to digital from my Canon EOS1n in 2005, then using mainly slide film and had a Fuji S5000 in-between while learning about the new tec stuff and now I have a Canon EOS 350D, lenses 17-40mm, macro EF 100mm, 70-200mm and a canon EF 1.4x extender. I hope you enjoy my images and that I am helpful with my notes that you may also learn of our world down under. My personal website to share my enjoyment of photography in our unique landscape West of the Southern Alps I have also joined TrekLens for those photos that don't quite fit here in TN, like raindrops on umbrella.
