Detail enhancement in shadows | Mousehill
(754) [2005-12-16 07:35:05] [3] | Hi Scott,
although you have done the hard work with your excellent composition and great sharpness in the image, I personally think it can be improved a bit.
Photoshop CS2:
To get rid of the shadow that covers most of the face:
Shadows: 28%
Highlight: 6%
To enhance the detail on the feathers:
Contrast: -4
Slight colour correction:
Hue: -5
Finishing:
Saturation: +9
Lightness: +2

Hope you like it!
Best regards, Mike |

 Adding Drama ;-) | Mousehill
(754) [2005-12-15 15:37:10] [2] | This is probably the shortest workshop I'll ever do. The original image is already very dramatic, but I was wondering if I could get some more details out of the sky in the top left corner. In Photoshop:
Select shadows/highlight ->
Shadows 27%
Highlights 64%
Done!
I hope you like the little more detail you get this way. Best regards, Mike |

 Shadow correction | Mousehill
(754) [2005-12-15 15:27:07] [2] | I created a second empty layer. In the original image I selected with the magic wand the shadowed areas in the image. Copy of this selection into the new layer.
In this new layer I adjusted with the shadow/highlight tool untill the details in the shadows were good visible like I personally like them.
With opacity the layers were adjusted into this image. To me there is now a more even balance between the shadows and bright sunlit patches. |

(754) [2005-11-25 07:21:09] [1] | Hello Philippe,
I tried to get rid of the branches in the image to get even more focus on the butterfly. I don't like the result though as the white patch gets too big in this case. I thought I'd post this image anyway to give an idea about what I did. I wonder what you think about it. Best regards, Mike |
