| Intro: | My name is Roy Fallon. I have had a lifelong love of all animals, wildlife and the places where they exist. I am much more comfortable in the company of animals, wild or domestic, than I am in the company of people. That said, I am far from an unsociable type. I am passionate about all wildlife in general but tigers in particular. I travel to India as much as possible to see the wild tigers there. This passion for wildlife and the travelling that it involves have lead me to find an interest in photography. I am no expert photographer and I am more concerned with the subject and the story behind it than producing the perfect photo. My last trip, to India, was on 4th. October, when I visited Ranthambhore National Park in Rajasthan, India. On the 21st December 2007 I went to Serbia to visit the Fruska Gora Mountains, near the city of Novi Sad. I was hoping to film and photograph the local wildlife but nothing is guaranteed and there was very little available to photogrpah. The snow was amazing and I got some decent winter scenery shots. Most of the wild creatures have been shot out of existence by the local hunting mob, who love to kill anything that moves on the ground or flies in the air. It seems that the wildlife authorities in the Balkans feel that their wildlife is more valuable dead than alive. I don't agree, of course. Every wild animal killed by a moronic hunter deprives the rest of the World from seeing that animal in all its wild glory. I hate hunters, I cannot understand why or how anyone can call themselves a man when they point a gun at a wild creature. They are cowards and I have no respect for them. I go into the forests and jungles of this planet armed with noithing more than a camera between myself and creatures like my beautiful wild tigers. I cause no harm to their environment and I leave nothing but footprints and I take nothing but photographs and fantastic memories. My next trip abroad is in April 2008 when I am going to work with the Cameroon Wildlife Aid Fund in the Mefoue National Park, for a month. I will be working with the primate conservancy team there, aiding in the conservation of sick, injured and orphaned baby gorillas and chimpanzees. I am hoping to get some good footage, but the primary aim is to care for the primates there. I am also returning to South Africa in October 2008, with my daughter and my girlfriend. We are going to be working at the C.A.R.E.S. Trust wildlife Sanctuary, caring for orphaned baboons. At present I am also in talks with a natural history filming company about putting together some of my video footage from India with a view to returning there in order to make a full blown documentary about my tigers and the service they provide to the people and the country of India. Should be an interesting year. I am definitely going back to Ranthambhore in February 2009, no matter what else occurs. Regards Roy | |
