I really loved the potential of the original but thought that there was too much space behind the image. All I have done is cropped it to put a little less space behind it and then added a black frame
Do let me know what you think
Best regards

I really liked the context for the capture given by your POV, so I only cropped a little bit so that the bird is a little clearer (It would have worked better with the original rather than the resized copy, though). And then I just dodged the bird in PhotoShop CS so that one can see a little more of the deatil in the feathers. I hope this will help a little. |

(5406) [2006-07-14 18:59:35] [2] | Hi Janice -- Hope you don't mind this attempt.
I've found it mitigates the cold light caused by too strong a flash in some of my work too.
Photoshop warming filter : 35% opacity

(5406) [2006-07-12 10:17:35] [4] | HI Ori
I hope you don't mind this WS. I really wanted you to be able to show off this beauty at its best, but it was a little bit dark. In Photoshop CS, I simply brought the sliders form the dark end and the light end into the middle.
Tip: If you hold down the ALT key while you're doing this, you can see exactly what areas of the photograph will be affected (i.e. where you will lose some deatil). This way you can prevent detail loss in highlights or shadows and still bring out the best in the rest of the image. |

(5406) [2006-07-06 17:36:30] [5] [+] | I hope that you will not mind the opinion of a relative beginner here and I do not want to demean your fabulous capture in any way.
Although the detail on the wing is fabulous, the real majesty is in the face, so I would be inclined to crop the shot to focus on the face and to overcome the missing wing. Please do let me know what you think of this. |

(5406) [2006-07-06 08:21:09] [3] | This is simply a change of composition, which is a highly subjective issue.
I have merely rotated the picture so that one has a lead in from the right-hand corner.
Do let me know what you think

Here's the result (I hope it pleases):
Using round bristled dodging tool, brushed across each shadow individually and then faded brush tool by 50% on most of the passes

I'm still quite new to this, and it is all very subjective indeed. However, here is what I would have done with the picture. |
