(12330) [2008-02-03 11:51:13] [2] | | I wanted to see how the composition would work if I brightened the foreground grasses, and the tree and its reflection a bit. I think now my eye enters the scene at the foreground grasses and goes to the beautiful more visible reflection and then up the tree to the gorgeous cloud. I cropped out bits on both the right and left side that I felt distracted the viewer from that path. Just a personal thought : ) |

(2937) [2007-12-16 12:18:55] [1] | Hi Niek!
Here my very personal and subjective proposal: I have attenuated the bright tones in two steps. First for the whole picture, then only for the stones. From my point of view, the picture is more vivid now. Finally, I have added verry little unsharp mask.
Kind regards

(12330) [2007-12-01 09:46:46] [1] | | I think that the ultra white frame on the original, being that it contrasts so starkly with the dark image, visually comes forward and therefore pushes the image/lilies back. I think a more neutral frame recedes visually allowing the lighter lilies to come forward and "take center stage" so to speak : ) |

(12330) [2007-10-30 21:54:20] | | I felt that all the angled lines from the top and bottom in the original sort of locked my eyes on the large rock in the center. I tried an alternate crop. I think the angled lines on the left side bring my eyes into the scene from the left rather than the bottom center. Then I move on to the stream bed and up to the distant valley and sky. Just a thought... : ) |

(12330) [2007-09-10 11:21:32] [3] | | I thought that an alternate crop might showcase the grouse a bit more. I wanted to eliminate some of the OOF area and the long horizontal bands that detracted from the subject. I can see now that it might be a bit too closely cropped on the bottom (cutting off the poor bird's feet) but I think one can see what I was trying to do. : ) |

crop, grad filter, contrast | mbasil
(2993) [2007-09-09 19:24:44] [1] | | I was trying to bring across a more ominuous look across the whole photo -- bottom as well as top. So I applied a grad filter in my PP. (I also did a minor crop and contrast adjusment, but those are secondary). |

(12330) [2007-08-18 09:15:33] [2] | | I just experimented with a different crop. I found the very dark left side (Mountain, clouds & cloud reflections) made that side of the image too "heavy" and took attention away from the wonderful pyramidal shaped cloud and its reflection. The crop also placed that wooden structure a bit more off center. I think now the left side is very effective in pointing to that structure ( with the mountain's shape and shadows acting as arrows) Then that great cloud and its reflection take off from it. I love all the interlocking angles and triangles. |
