I think with just a touch of Levels adjustment the color and saturation really pops. I love the blue necks on the birds. I think the image responded nicely to sharpening too.

With Photoshop Elements 4 using the crop tool I rotated slightly to correct slight slant of mesa.
Using unsharp mask tool with settings:
Amount 330%, Radius .3 pixels, Threshold 0 I sharpened the image.
