The only thing I noticed was the tiny grain in the background. Used NeatImage to filter it out, also sharpened just a tad. The difference isn't dramatic, it's just a touch ;)

The only thing that I did is to delete one sun spot from the kingfishers' eye, I think it is better, you should put the pictures one after the other and browse between them, pay attention to the eye, I think you will see the difference.

(710) [2004-12-03 18:06:09] [1] | To me the midtones seem overly blue - a frequent problem when scanning Provia, so I've just moved the Blue channel midpoint up quite a bit, and moved the Red midpoint down a little.
On looking at it I think the red may have been too much, the sky's gone a little more magenta than I'd have liked. Sorry!

Unsharp mask
Reduced the saturation color of the sky by using the replace color section.
Added a gradient
ran it through neat image because of the backround noise.

I removed some noise with NI, fix levels in PS and use a new plugin , Power retouce to sharp it. I hope you don't mind.
