| Intro: | Random Documentalist... Common Tater.. As a former professional photographer of 21 years, my first love was fine B&W imagery. My initial education came by way of my father and oldest brother, both Long Island, NY, newsmen and photojournalists. The US Navy helped me to refine my techniques. In the early days I mixed and used all basic photo chemicals as needed. I also free-lanced with major news organizations in the Washington,D.C., area for 15 years. Today, after 44 years in and out of the business, I am sold on digital. I carry my Cannon A560 with me everywhere. I shoot on the run and whenever the mood strikes. I don't make the time and trouble for elaborate set-ups. I have no problem with making 25 to 50 shots just to get the one or two I like. Passing clouds and rain droppings will grab my attention always, especially in my back yard. And my early life experiences rule my preferences for straight-forward imagery and presentation. Any images I upload to the TREK sites are usually cropped, with image enhancement kept to a minimum; much as I would have done in old darkroom work. I've come to like color work, and B&W pics will be presented occasionally. Driving a cab pays the bills. | |
