I made a few changes to your picture which I hope you find useful. The following were done in CS2:
1. opened the file in CS2;
2. cropped the picture so that the face of the seal isn't in the middle of the composition and also favored the empty space in front of the subject;
3. selectively sharpened the picture with high pass filter;
4. created an adjustment layer for hue/saturation and adjusted these attributes (hue=+3, saturation=+40);
5. created an adjustment layer for curves and adjusted the curves so that I see a bit more details in the shadows;
6. used layer masks to apply these adjustments selectively;
7. saved the file as .jpg.
I think I could have cropped a little more from the right but I wanted to avoid cropping from the grass area and making the picture look too square. I hope you like the results! Thanks!
I have done a tighter crop to make the insect more prominent in the composition, the saturation of colours has been increased, framing done to give finish to the shot,
I wanted to reveal just a little more texture in the dark areas. I probably could have made it even lighter but I think this is enough. I used a Shadows and Highlight adjustment layer. I also rotated the image just a bit to the right.
first the image was denoised in Neat Image, then blink was cloned out in PS and finally all sharpened a bit and colours saturated in PhotoCleaner. Hope you like it :-)
