Still a very nice image from you. |

The angled branch looks good on your shot in my opinion.

I took some yellow out of the feathers and added a bit of contrast.
This is a very good in flight.

 Lighting changes | dB_grafix
(3019) [2008-01-23 00:51:57] [2] [+] | Darkened shadows, Darkened Highlights, added some mid tone contrast, then adjusted brightness. Added a bit of unsharpmask.
Given your sunshine,I figure that you could count on a few certain camera settings. A still subject like this would mostly be set around 1/250 sec at an f/8 on my camera. It gives nice DOF that way, and wil not cast too much light on the whole surroundings.
Anyways...that's what I normally find from my exif data, so I stick to it on manual settings.
But then I shoot always in RAW, and it is easier to adjust the balances afterwards.
Please take some more of this bird. It is a really colourful and unique species. I rarely get a chance to see this type. |

(3019) [2007-11-22 22:55:29] [1] | Hi Angelina.
I darkened some highlights by about 25% then lightened shadows1%
I then added some contrast and took away some brightness so I could try and take the light grass. One thing I like is he crop you chose with the branches coming from the side. |

Let me know.
It sure is a nice image because of the position of butterfly. |

(3019) [2007-09-11 23:38:59] | Hi to all of you who critiqued the wing clip.
This is the original uncropped, unedited photo.
I resized it for here, but this is how it came from camera.
My thoughts were to show more detail on the feathers, and also crop so that the bird looked larger.
I still missed a bit of the wingtip,so that is why my latest evenings are spent practicing.
Thanks for your views on it. |

 Illumination Fix | dB_grafix
(3019) [2007-07-12 19:58:51] [1] | | I used a filter called Lotus Illumination Fix Toolkit to give the subject a bit of light, and darken the background. In Photoshop I did a bit of reduce noise. |
