1 - In the Shadows/Highlights - Highlights 65%
Shadows23%
2 - Hue/saturation - reduced the saturation a bit because the sky had turned into a very fake blue
3 - Used the sponge tool with 65% saturation to bring the colors of the insect

This photo had to much green, probably the result of the reflexion of the green grass from under the Heron so I've used Photoshop to better balance the colors, highlight the shadows and sharpen a bit on the Heron body

1 - Shadows/Highlights to change the levels of the photo
2 - color balance to add some magenta and blue (to remove the excessive green)
3 - magnetic lasso tool to select the Heron body and unsharp mask
4 - Bursh tool in color mode and 25% opacity and painted the water with cyan color

Were did you go?

Used the clone tool using the bright water on the right to clone over your shadow. Clone in lighten mode and hardlight mode to clear the small riple were the star is out of water.

Hope you don't mind :)

Hi Gerhard. Here is my second version of the workshop as promised. This time I was more careful. Didn't use burning but added sharpen, lightness, saturation and changed the levels a bit. It's a little hard to lighten a photo like this because the shiny metallic feathers become oversaturated very easily.

I've done a clone to remove that weird mark and sharpened some areas with the sharpen tool specially the eyes to reveal more the eye cells.
