Getting Rid of Haze | dsidwell
(680) [2005-08-25 22:05:28] [1] | The otter looked slightly hazy to me--as if I were looking through a dirty window. Here's what I did to change this:
1. I selected the bottom right half of the photo in a diagonal so you could easily see the difference.
2. I used Unsharp Mask with a very high pixel radius (about 150) and a low percentage (about 30%).
4. In LEVELS, I slid the Middle ranges to the darker side just a little.
5. I used the Shadow/Highlight tool in Photoshop to bring back the detail in its eyes.
That's it! I hope it was helpful. |

 Just some polishing. | dsidwell
(680) [2005-04-10 21:50:55] [2] | I only did my work on half the photo so you could contrast more easily.
First, I applied an Unsharp Mask at 175 pixel radius and at 20%, which got rid of some of the barely perceptible haze.
Then, I went to LEVELS and moved the middle slider to the right just a tiny bit.
I then boosted the hue/saturation by 10%
Finally, I sharpened the photo a bit.
Hope you like it! |

 Haze Removal | dsidwell
(680) [2005-04-10 21:38:41] [3] | I only did this to half the bird so you could see the results.
I did Unsharp Mask at 175 pixels and 20%. Then I lowered just the middle slider in LEVELS only a tiny bit.
I think it removed the almost imperceptible haze quite nicely.
What a magnificent bird and shot, Callie! |

 Darkening Middle Ranges | dsidwell
(680) [2004-09-30 12:46:53] [1] | | I just used LEVELS and slid the middle slider toward the right until it looked good to me. This deepened the tones just a bit. thanks for posting such a lovely photo! |
