Hi there :)

I love your photo, they are very cute.

Here is what i did.

Cropped the top of your picture, and fixed the border
Dropped the saturation to -100 to make it a BW.

I am no expert at all, But it looked like a fun picture to play with. Hope you like it.

I did try a workshop doing the following.

1. Using the burn tool, I made the reeds and the trunk a bit darker to lower the contrast with the heron

2. I adjusted the levels a little brighter after completing step 1

Hope you like it

I all,

Thanx to Gert and Robert who reminded me of the SH in Photoshop CS. I applied the tool with default settings and the result can be seen in this WS. I hope it helps to make your miss a near miss in the future.

Kind regards
Gerhard

In photoshop I adjusted the background lighting without the bird being affected, it's a special setting. added a grediant at a low opacity and a solid red filter at 50% and adjusted the opacity to a very low setting. And voila.

Hope you like it Gerhard.

Based on the color of these spiders in North America, there seemed to be color cast from the leaves. I focused on the white banding on the legs to find a color neutral spot.

I played with the levels, reducing the blue mainly, then I gave it a sharpen.

I hope you like it and I hope you don't mind.

To give you an idea of how close you can get, this is a daddy long legs spider. It's whole body is 5mm in lenght. You cannot see it's eyes without enlargement. The DOF here is frightening. those eye are smaller than the tip of a needle.

Now to get the DOF right! :-D
