Gerhard ...I applied a filter very smooth in Neat Image.
In Corel Photo Paint 12, i cloned the clearest areas of the image (to the right of the animal, the left of the image and in the end of the snout).
I modified the values of brightness -4 and contrast +11 and I applied to an Unsharp mask of 200%.
I hope pleases to you.

Fixing Chromatic Aberration

Purpose: To fix Chromatic Aberration (green/magenta fringes) - particularly around the blade of grass just in front of the tail, but also in the background in general.

In areas where there should only be one colour the solution is easy, just use an airbrush in Color mode with that colour - it'll get rid of the aberrations easily. Unfortunately most images have a range of colours, and this is no exception!

Luckily this image doesn't have any particularly fine colour detail, so we can approach it with a similar technique - something I call AB-blur. Use NewLayerViaCopy to create a copy, then convert the whole image to LABcolor. Select the A channel, and apply a Blur/Gaussian to it - in this case 7px. I then repeated the process with the B channel. The result is that colours are smoothed out, whilst brightness levels are maintained. Why did we make a copy of the original though? Well not all areas of the image should have their colours smudged! The bird itself is relatively free of chromatic aberration and has some sharpish colour changes, which we want to keep. So we just knock the bird out of the top layer using a soft-edged eraser :)

If the image is really difficult I use something I call AB-painting, which again involves LABcolor, but instead of blurring I use the Clone Tool to patch things up on the A and B channels like this

I hope you like it :)

I just used LEVELS and slid the middle slider toward the right until it looked good to me. This deepened the tones just a bit. thanks for posting such a lovely photo!

Hi Gerhard. Here is my second version of the workshop as promised. This time I was more careful. Didn't use burning but added sharpen, lightness, saturation and changed the levels a bit. It's a little hard to lighten a photo like this because the shiny metallic feathers become oversaturated very easily.
Hope you like it
