I like this alpine view. A slight amount of noise in the sky seemed to be present so this was put throught Noiseware, a free program. Unsure if much difference. M.

here is a flock of galahs (5 or so more out of frame), and one confused lorikeet, that regularly flies into the empty plot of land 2 doors down from me to graze... on a good day there can be anywhere up to about 40 i'd say.

Hi Gethin, in this workshop I wanted to bring some colour back to the grass. There are probably several ways you could do this. I wanted to try a new technique I heard of with colour burning. To do this I duplicated the layer, then selected a green with the eyedropper from the grass. I then set the brush opacity to 20% and brushed the grass, (the mode for the brush was set to colour burn). I then set up a layer mask to clean up with a high opacity (80%) black brush, by painting the bird, where I had crossed the line. I hope this meets with your approval. I have removed the copy from my terminal.

Adder since the workshop: I've experimented a bit more. I expect grey would have done the same job as the green. It has more to do with the tone and opacity than the colour, but it affects the existing colours.

Regards, John

Hi Gethin, hope you don't mind I've done a w/shop on this to reduce the background noise, all I've done is run it though Neat Image, (free download)then isolated the bird and sharpened it slightly I have delated the original from my Pc, Cheers Rick

Hope you'll like it :)

I cropped the image and then made a selection of the very bright leaf, separated from the butterfly and the remaining BG on a new layer. I reduced the brightness of this layer severely and thus got some detail back into the leaf. I could then increase the brightness on the butterfly and the rest of the BG. Finally, it was sharpened a little, then I replaced the signature block by cutting and placing from the original.
