I felt that the mid tone sky and mid tone water dominated the image. By increasing the contrast and saturation there is more focus on foreground and mountains. The area of most contrast is where the lightest clouds meet the mountains. The eye automatically goes there first and so draws one into the scene. Also by cropping, the foreground became larger in proportion to the whole, which to me adds interest.
