Hi Valerie

I just did a number of small optimization adjustments to bring out the colour and to increase the sharpness slightly.

Adjusted levels on the histogram by slightly increasing the black and grey and decreasing the white. Saturation was increased +4, Contrast was increased +4, and Brightness was reduced by -5. Then I ran the Unsharp Mask at 200% and 0.3 radius and finaly I applied NeatImage to the BG at default settings.

Thanks for allowing workshops to be posted and I hope you like the result.

Kind regards.

Hi Liezel

Just a couple of quick adjustments on PP to experiment with cropping, details, and BG noise.

1. Cropped a little bit off the bottom.
2. Resized image to 800 pixels on the vertical.
3. I selected the BG and applied 1 run of NeatImage at default settings.
4. Inversed selection and applied USM mask on the bird only at 300, 0.3, & 0 settings.
5. Selected "Save for Web" and increased the file size from 104kB to 194kB.

Thanks for allowing workshops to be posted. I hope you approve of the attempt at optimisation.

Hi Mario

As I said, I just did a very quick workshop of this photo.

1. Adjusted the black only on "Levels".
2. Increased "Saturation" +15.
3. Increased "Contrast" +7.
4. Decreased "Highlights" -1 settting.

Unfortunately the large tree shows quite a bit of aberrations, but I hope you like the result although it might not have turned into a Da Vinci masterpiece.

Friendly regards

Unfortunately I do not know who the artist was that concocted this painting, but he/she surely must have had the okapi in mind when inspired to do this work. Your photo reminded me of this piece of artwork and I hope you'll excuse me for violating your workshop space in order to share this with you.

A fruitcake of epic proportions with 14 or more different animal species depicted in this strange and hilarious design. If such an animal really existed the scientists might have called it something like: "parrostagcockeaglezebratortoilamaelephagiraphamacaw".

PS1. Please, no ratings on this one.

PS2. I have received this in one of those fun Power Point slide shows that generally gets sent around via e-mail circles so hopefully the owner will pardon the use and the ignorance to its origins.

Hi Sukumaran

I did not intend to change or optimise much so just a couple of basic steps.

1. Increased "Saturation" +5.
2. Increased "Contrast" +6.
3. Decreased "Brightness" -7.
4. Increased sharpness "USM" at 330, 0.3, & 0.
5. Ran "NeatImage" on the BG at default settings.

I hope you like the result.

Hi Hernan

I thought I'll rather show you what I meant with spicing up your shot just a little more. Since your photo has really captured the beauty of the frog it did not take much to optimise it with PP.

As ± suggested I only increased contrast by +6 steps, decrease brightness by -4 steps, and increased saturation by +6 steps.

I hope you like the result.

Friendly regards.

Hi Mario

I did not spent much time on this one so it was mostly a touch here and a touch there, but my real attempt was merely to try and balance out the strong yellow cast in the photo.

I adjusted the "Levels" by setting the black and white points. For the "white point" I tried various options within the area of the white clouds until I found a visually acceptable level. Then I removed some more red with the "Colour Variations" facility, removed some noise with NeatImage, and gave it slight bump with the USM filter at 230, 0.2, & 0.

Hi Raimundo

Thanks for allowing that workshops may be posted.

I just wanted to play a little with the saturation and sharpness to see where it could take this photo so I did not attempt to change a great deal. However, I hope you like the result.

- Selected the bright areas on the lip and adjust ‘Brightness’ -8.
- Then I selected the complete flower and increased 'Saturation' +12.
- Adjusted 'USM' by 300, 0.3, and 0.
- Inverted the selection and ran the BG through 'NeatImage' once at default values.
- Selected 'Save-to-web' and adjusted the file size.

As you can see, not much optimisation although I believe it did change the image somewhat.
Friendly regards
