There seems to be nothing like a "dirty" old mud bath, to get a bull elephant all spirited up and excited.

This photo was taken ±10 minutes after he had his 'mud bath splash'. One could not even begin to understand what made the elephant react in such a manner. Such is nature!

Colour Balance, Curves, Rotate, Clone

Please note that colours, brightness and contrast may vary greatly according the viewers' display. On mine, the original image seemed a bit too red and slightly overexposed.
Using the Colour Balance in PS, I reduced the red and the yellow.
Then I increased the contrast in Curves.
I rotated the canvas CW = 2
Finally, I cloned out the sticks in the background.
How do this look on your monitor, Loot? Did I go overboard?

Hi Loot.
A picture should have a Black and a White point,
if you can finf out these and use levels/curves the picture will be correct in colours, I say normally, there is exception.
Let PS find out the b/W point with help of the tool threshold and use the colours sampler tool to mark the points and gthen click with the b/w pipettes in levels. This is what you can do in PS CS I don't know if it's possible in PSE.
I did remove the BG noise too ,but i don't think it was necessarily. I mark the BG with the magic wand and run the picture in noiseware pro.

The nest is constructed of grasses, fibres, dead leaves and other debris. The outside is plastered with spider webs and the inside is warmly lined with soft plants and feathered down.

Hi you all.

Another bonus workshop - slightly different pose, same action. The marathon session is prolonged for up to 4 days.

I appreciated the opportunity to photograph this animal behaviour, but I doubt that I would be able to sit it out for so long.

It is a stop-start affair with ±25 minute intervals, and then it is the same "boring" scene all over again. (I've waited for 15 years for this opportunity so you can hardly believe me when I say "boring".)

Anyhow, it is a classical case of:
She offered her honour,
He honoured her offer,
So for 4 days long it was honour & offer, honour & offer, or something like that.

Hi all.
I uploaded this workshop just as a bonus, for an even closer view of Scar Face's well worn features.

This is a slightly different angle than the original photo, a closer zoom and a tighter crop. The tighter crop was deliberately done as I am not concerned with the compositional qualities for this posting, but merely as a supplement.
