I just used the dodge tool in Photoshop to lighten up and improve the details in the head.

Here is what I did:

Using the blur tool to get rid of the noise.
Adding a slight contrast to increase the colours.
Adding a slight usm 300-0.3-1.

Here is what I did:

Resize to 300 pixels/inch.
Curves input 60, output 50.
Use the dodge tool to lighten up the three in the right side of the picture.
Adding a gentle usm 350-1-1.
Save/optimize for web.
