(9313) [2007-11-30 22:04:49] [5] | Hi Smitha
I started playing with another workshop and tried to push the envelope a bit further just to see how much additional details I could get out of the white plumage.
Post processing done:
1. "Levels" adjustment on the "Histogram" by increasing the "Input Levels" of the "Black" slider (at 32), and balancing the "Mid-tones" slider to darken the image (at 0.83).
2. "Brightness" -2.
4. "Saturation" +8.
5. Selected the background with the "Magic Wand" and "Lasso" tools.
6. Applied "Neat Image" at its default settings.
7. Added "Yellow" with "Variations" and the slider set to "Fine".
8. Inversed selection so that only the bird was selected.
9. Used the "Brush Tool" at 7% "Opacity" (black) to darken the wings.
10. Adjusted "USM" at 200% amount, 0.3 radius, and 0.0 threshold.
11. Selected the beak only with the "Lasso" tool.
12. Set grey colour and painted the beak with the "Brush Tool" at 60% "Opacity"
13. Selected "Save for Web", and adjusted the "Quality" upwards to 192kB.
Once again it was not my intention to "modify", but just to present a different view on a lovely photo.
Best regards

(9313) [2007-11-29 20:08:37] [6] | Hi Smitha
Just a slightly darker version with only a couple of small adjustments of your lovely shot. Hope you don't mind though.
Adjusted black side of levels slightly darker.
Selected the BG and used Neat Image at default setting.
Selected the bird and adjusted brightness at -4.
Made the beak a little more noticable with brush tool at 7% opacity (white).
I have also tried another workshop with different settings just to see if I could push it a little further. Hope you don't mind.
Best regards

(3429) [2007-08-11 05:17:23] | Hi,
This is the photo of adult Tree Pie. If you look closely you can see the absence of tuft like feathers on the start of the beak, the absence of whitish colour on the beak and the colours of the feathers are richer and a more mature look.
