This is how I would've cropped the photo to leave only the most important part and get rid of the distracting part of the photo.

The slant horizon was distracting so I leveled the photo. Later I had to cut it a bit. I added frame and sharpen the photo.

I wanted to emphasize the main subject, so I blurred the BG, add some contrast and saturation and sharpen the whole image a bit.
I think now the bad focus is less visible.
