This is how the top of ants nest look when the ants leave the nest first time in the Spring. There's lots of them and sometimes you can't see the nest.
I didn't find any info why they are doing it. It seems all of them just bask in the Sun ;)

Hola Monica, como te habia comentado, aqui esta el workshop de tu estupenda foto.
He ajustado el encuadre para eliminar las partes de la foto que estan fuera de foco, la escena sigue conservando todos los elementos importantes del contexto y de la accion.
Tambien he eliminado la rama de la esquina superior izquierda.
He desaturado los colores amarillo y rojo, potenciado el azul y cian y contrastado un poco.
