This is the John Day River that many fossils have been unearthed and discovered on the surface along its banks. I increased saturation slightly and sharpened using unsharp mask.
I incresaed saturation by 18 points and darkened by 7 points. Then I went to Master controls and increased reds by 5 points. Then I sharpened in unsharp mask to 176 and sharpened in Filters once.

First I went to Medium in Filters to take out noise in atmosphere and then I went to auto contrast and then to Neutral colors in Selective Colors and darkened the craters, and then went into Whites in Selectice Colors and whitened the lighter portion of the moon. Then I went to Auto levels and this was the end result.

This image had a lot of work performed, but the main issues were the overexposure, went to hue-saturation and took out yellows and added reds, blues, and darkend greens. Then I went into Brightness-contrast and lowered brightness and added contrast. I also went into layers and cropped a few foreground grasses on right and cloned them into very foeground to make a V shape as an entrance into the pond and forest. I also went into unsharpen mask and then sharpen twice.
Those were the main ingrediants added to my recipe for your image.
Hope you like it...
