This is the John Day River that many fossils have been unearthed and discovered on the surface along its banks. I increased saturation slightly and sharpened using unsharp mask.
I corrected the tilt by rotating 2,1 deg. and did a resze to 4:5 format. The 4:5 makes me "naturaly cut the upper part and not cut too much at the bottom because of the straightening of the horizon.

This is the original image. As you can see even after I used a gradual filter to cool down the warm light on the rock nearest you it was not enough to even the light out as it fell across the rock with the remaining scene.
