Hi everyone,
as a keen landscape photographer, my eyes are always seeing wonderful vistas and views that are begging to be captured in the right conditions near my home. I'm lucky enough to live in a very picturesque part of the UK, so i have lots of places to choose from!
However, i am very interested to know if any of you have a certain place near to where you live that moves you, or you come back to again and again to just sit and enjoy looking at?
I'd love to hear where these places are...

Hi Paul,
I've got serveral spots that I visit throughout the year. But I am also always on the look out for new compositions. There is an old tree that I visit, there are two hills that I visit, a small lake, a watermill and some other spots. But I am limited to what my country has to offer and the time I have available. I think it is time I plan more long distance trips. First by internet and later by car.

Hi mates,
I think for me this whole "places to revisit" divides into two categories:
1. places for landscapes
2. places for macros.
For the latter one, it's much easier - the thermal habitat i keep mentioning in my dragonfly photos :) That's about at 9 km from the city and allows immense opportunities for macros.
For landscapes, i don't have a favorite place very close to the city...i'm not so lucky as you Paul to have such a superb coast at my door step :) Hence, i tend to visit different parts of the Western Carpathians whenever i can. I really like mountains and there are plenty to trek at about 100km from where i live. I have some friends that we go camping with and that's when i take most of my scenery shots.
Cheers and have a nice weekend
Horia
PS: i'll be visiting some interesting new sites on Monday hopefully. I'm taking a longer trip with some friends and we're going to the muddy volcanoes, too. Hopefully that will be such a great visit that i'll make a habit for returning there :) |

Hi Paul!
Lodz's Botanic Garden is this kind of place for me. There are few reasons - first of all it is placed about 500m from my home. I live here from almost 30 years and The Garden always played big role in my life. It is big and very diverse. It is full of interesting insects and plants. It is beautifull. It is kind of my own sanctuary, place where I can escape from all the troubles of daily life. I've got few favourite areas there - ponds, meadows, one small and very picturesque forest, area with herbs...
The Garden borders on Zdrowie Park - few times bigger park created on remains of ancient Lodz's primeval forest. This park is my favourite place during late autumn and winter - I like to take photos of fungi there.
And the third place - Duke Poniatowski's Park - another old and big park, full of interesting places. This one is placed very near my workplace and I'm crossing it every day going to work. So this is obvious than I take many photos there (especially 'mist and sunrays' serie).
Thanks for starting very interesting thread!
Best regards,
Greg! |

It's no-where near where I live ... but one of my favourite places has got to be Glen Coe up in the Scottish Highlands!
Around here .... not so sure, there is no-where round here I keep going back to. The closest thing to that would be Dartmoor up on the High Moor. |
