| Nikon D60 or Canon eos 450D | irishprophet25

Hi all,
I am looking to buy my first DSLR and I was wondering if what the best entry level one would be. I have looked at many cameras and reviews for the cameras and have narrowed it down to these two. The canon seems to be more expensive so I was wondering if it was worth the extra money.
Any feedback would be welcome.

Hi Sion
just one general remark: once you have your first Nikon or Canon, you will probably stick to that brand lifelong, as you will never change your lenses (if you own several they will be much more expensive than one single camera). DSLR will change but lenses will stay (I own my 300 mm 2.8 now for 19 years). So better look at the lenses. Both Canon and Nikon have a huge range (Canon often is a bit less expensive). But there are also the Sigma- and Tamron-lenses, less expensive of course.
And do not forget that the photographer will make the picture, not the camera.
Have a nice day

Hi again
Sorry, I seem to have put the wrong camera in, I was looking at the EOS 450D at the time :D, I meant to ask Nikon D60 0r EOS 1000D as these two are in the same category where as the 450D has more MP's and is more expensive than both of these by about £80,
Sorry for that.

| Unless you can afford to buy a Nikon D3 and lens of quality then stick with Canon...and this comes from me, a Nikon lover:-) |

Not used the 1000D myself, but I believe it is fairly similar to the 400D so you should be happy with it. I used the 400D for three years and got a huge amount of use from it (50,000 shots). I moved up to the 5DMk2 as I wanted full frame and to expand my options in lower light conditions, but I have kept my old one as backup as it's still a great camera.
