Monopod MMM Gold Star Critiquer/Gold Note Writer [C: 1136 W: 0 N: 2546] (11425)::2010-08-16 6:32
Hi Everyone
I was wondering if someone was using a monopod with an heay lens like the 500 or 600mm? and how were you managing it compared to a tripod ?

Hi Michel
I am using a monopod with my 300 mm 2.8 and now with the 500 mm 4.0 from Canon
it is just perfect for flying birds but it is important to use an appropriate tilt only head like the manfrotto 234.
That's a perfect combination
hope this helps
Tom

I have the Manfrotto 694CX Carbon Fibre 4-Section Monopod, probably the most important thing is height, the monopod should be almost as tall as you are, mine is a bit short, perfect for horizontal flying birds but uncomfortable for high flying raptors.
