Will we ever get to post bigger pictures ? LordPotty Gold Star Critiquer/Gold Star Workshop Editor/Gold Note Writer [C: 1388 W: 144 N: 3883] (12555)::2012-03-10 13:51
Hi folks. I've been away from TrekNature for some time,but was a regular poster for over 3 years.
Each time I come back to post something, one thing strikes me. TrekNature hasn't evolved much.
Most of the site works quite well, & its good to see that Adams original design & concept have been maintained. I have often wondered though, why the photo size must be so small, especially in this day of 14 megapixel + cameras ? Most other sites that host photographs are always increasing their size allowance, but TrekNature seems to have decreased theirs. The size limitations mean that we only get to post teeny weeny pictures, not much larger than thumbnails. This is one thing that keeps me from posting again each time I visit.
Many of us have become really good photographers these days, and we have such great images with such a lot of detail to share,it seems they are almost being wasted by being posted so small.
I wonder if admin will ever increase the size allowance? My feeling is that 800 x 600 should be the absolute minimum, although 1024 x 768 is a much more reasonable size.
What do others think ?

It's fine the way it is... any larger would encourage more rip off.

oops .... I thought the size had changed. I saw the minimum length 250pixels & though it meant max height lol. Tried resizing a 250 pixel pic & could hardly see it .... duh.
Yeah, 800 & 600 is ok for TN I guess. I'm not too worried about theft though. I've been sharing my fullsize images willy nilly for years & no one has ever ripped them off .... mind you, I don't sell them myself, (except when they get published in books etc) so its no biggie for me :)

Very good point indeed. Very good ...and I also think that at least 1000 pixels should be allowed. In my experience I feel as well that so much detail has been lost because of the limitations in the current size. Well, if anyone think that their images can be at some kind of risk then please continue posting smaller size images. I can also clearly see that often 307kb is too small for a picture size of 800x800px and when you reduced the the quality in order to fit the image into that limitation then the pixels of the image often becoming visible.
