I wanted to create the effect you were thinking of. Unfortunately the camera (Canon A95) did not allow me to create such effect, even though I was at the widest aperture. I am not a big fan of postprocessing (I accept minor manipulations such as color adjustments or lens distortion correction), so I did not want to modify it this way.
