Thank you for comment and visiting my bat gallery :)
All my close-ups (not only of bats but also all insects) are taken - usually - from 3-10 cm. Yes, I know it is not a huge distance, but eg. like in case of all bats - I try to find specimens located not "too high" but about 100-170 cm above ground level. It is especially possible in lower parts of caves or in bunkers.
