I have seen your Gambles Quail and there is some resemblance...and these California Quail I saw every day when living in Mendocino. We used to play games by burying a cardboard milk container with food at the bottom which they tried to get and then got almost caught...but it slowed them up enough to image them:-) naughty Bob playing so harshly with nature:-(
