Thanks Bob - I can't say I've seen Monty Python's skit on the flowers.
When we first moved to the North Shore when I was only 4 we had lupins growing covering the land my parents bought. But they were only yellow flowers. We still see them growing (yellow) on some beaches up here.
And sometimes my husband has planted them in the garden over winter and then dug them into the soil - good pottassium (I think) for the soil. But it seems the colourful flowers only grow in the cold areas of NZ.
