Regarding your question, unfortunately they have not got such an ability (expanding like a earthworm) but they can contract with their strong body muscles and they can "move forward and backword" in that same time that the family name is come after this ability (amphi: on both sides, i.e. front and back side + baen [Gr.]: move].
