Callie,
It is +/- 5 cm. The Guide to SA spiders says they are on average 1.8 to 2.8cm. I wrote to an entomologist about this abnormal size and will see what is his reply.
It took me seven years to get the wife to refrain from using Doom on them. These days she just calls me and I put it outside. I hope it takes shorter to convince you. :) You know, when I talk to people on this topic I always make their hairs stand on end by saying... Have any idea how dangerous one of these critters would be if it were the size of a house cat?
It is most certainly the most unique order of animals when it comes to diversity. Fascinating stuff for me these "eight legged freaks"
The weekend was a bit rushed and I did not want to bother you with my camera questions at an unsuitable time. Will give you a call during the week. When will be a suitable time for you?
Keep well.
