to be honest, i am using Photomatix 'blind', as it were! Have not really any idea what i'm doing, so should probably read up a bit more! I read somewhere that you had to use 3 different exposures, i hadn't considered using more than that to get a better variety and range of tone...perhaps this might help lesson the amout of contrast? No idea what seeting i used, all i know is that i reduced the exposure to -2 in the RAW editor, and also increased it by + 2...i think more experimentation is required!
