Thanks for the comments and hope all is well with your health now. Yes, they are exceedingly noisy if one gets too close -- and while we don't usually have to fret much about airborne poop, it is a problem on the ground, a real maintenance issue in some city parks. Some communities simply forbid citizens to feed the geese; others attempt more active measures to keep them away.
