I have written only about Sigma 70-300 mm for Sony/Minolta. Other Sigma lenses are more reliable.
My son has Sony A200. I think Minolta Maxxum 7D is better a bit. However, it is semi-pro camera. And you are right - any DSLR will bring many problems including financial.
I think when you will be not satisfied your camera then it is necessary to buy new camera.
