Indeed, Antiopa has become rarer in recent years but it's numbers vary a considerably. Central Sweden seems to have a climate that suits it best and this is where I saw several individuals on the same morning, which is a special experience for me living in the very south of Sweden where it is rare. I shall visit my son and grand-children more often in early April!
Now we have had a sunny and dry spring made cool by easterly winds from the Baltic, which has not encouraged the butterflies. We need your rain!!
