Thanks for the nice comments.
To cover the whole scenery, I have to treat this as a panorama shot since my lens is not wide enough to capture such wide angle. For the whole scene, I made 7 vertical shots with around 20% overlap between each shots. This is my objective no. 1.
For my 2nd objective, I also want to capture a wide dynamic ratio of the whole image. However, this situation is very difficult because of the sun. If I meter for the sun to get the correct exposure, the boats in the background will be in silhouette (dark). If I expose for the boats, my sky would be overexpose. The only way to overcome this lighting situation is by taking different exposures. Expose for the hightlight (sun)and expose for the boats. So I made 3 sets (7 shots/set to cover the whole scene) and 3 different exposures to cover the highlights, midtone and shadows.
Next step would be to stitch the panorama first, and then combine all the 3 resulting panorama. There are many programs that you can use (Photomatix, Photoshop, etc).
Hope this helps. |
