We canoed from Emerson Bridge, north of Brooks and took out at Jenner. We had a beautiful trip this time. We hadn't done the Red Deer for a while, the last time was in 2003 during the drought, I think it was 40C every day...had heat stroke and the bugs were unbearable. This year was almost perfect...20C to 22C on the river, but really hot above the river...you know. We saw lots of snakes, deer, birds etc and the bugs weren't to bad, we always had a nice breeze and ate like pigs. We canoed 108km in 4 days, I brought my GPS to check, Dan said it was 80km .... hummm what does he know.
