Most of the softness is as a result of scanning, hence the need for noise reduction on the sky. My enlargement is about 60cm across and is probably clearer than this one is. - The rest is the result of the fact that I was only 19 when I took the shot, from a science background, not arts, and having borrowed mymum's camera which didn't have any manual option settings (not that then I would have know what to do with them).
I tried to avoid altering anything else, becuase any other changes affected the tree greatly.
I went back to try to get a better shot of it! Even taking a copy of the photo with me to try to get the same angle. But as you may get to see over the weekend, when I post the other photo, the spring gales had torn the top off...
